Allerton Bishop is delighted to be partnering with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation to appoint a Head of Engineering. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for engineering strategy and delivery across a GMP-regulated manufacturing site, with a clear mandate to drive operational excellence, capital investment, and engineering performance. This position sits on the site leadership team and will play a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and the successful execution of both operational and strategic engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Engineering, Operational Excellence (OpEx), Capital Projects (CapEx), and Validation functions
- Define and execute the site-wide engineering strategy aligned to quality and production objectives
- Drive equipment reliability, asset lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, TPM, RCA)
- Oversee the delivery of capital investment programmes, including facility upgrades, new equipment, and expansion projects
- Ensure robust validation strategy and execution across equipment, utilities, and processes in line with GMP requirements
- Own engineering budget, resource planning, and contractor/vendor management
- Build and develop high-performing, multidisciplinary teams across engineering, projects, and validation.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven leadership experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
- Strong technical background across engineering, utilities, and validation within GMP settings
- Demonstrated success in leading engineering or validation teams
- Track record of delivering complex capital projects and driving site engineering performance improvements.
- Experience working within aseptic, sterile, or oral solid dose manufacturing environments is advantageous.
