This is a great opportunity for a flexible and motivated Senior Hydrogeologist to join a Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team. The successful candidate will be an important part of a small, innovative and technically excellent team, helping deliver projects across the UK. You will be a highly motivated, proactive, confident, and ambitious individual with excellent communication, writing and presentation skills, and proven experience in the field of hydrogeology.
You will be involved in a range of office and site-based projects, and will need to be an experienced technical, commercial and project manager. You will also provide important input into business strategy & business development activity, particularly in relation to the development of services within your technical specialism. As part of the team, you will help develop and deliver the Company's commitment to sharing knowledge and benefitting our professional and local community, via our Development Fund which seeks to plough a proportion of profits back into water-related community projects that all staff can contribute to.
Role competencies and experience
- Strong and technically experienced hydrogeologist, specifically to manage and direct projects and tasks within your specialist area and communicate with internal team and external clients.
- Be involved in all aspects of successful project delivery including risk identification, project setup, tracking progress against budgets, client management, and ensuring high-quality deliverables to strengthen client relationships.
- Provide specialist hydrogeological support to water resources/environmental projects; and/or, built development/industry/landfill/contaminated land projects.
- Interpret and develop robust conceptual site models, large data sets, risk assessments and numerical models, with a strength in preparing and reviewing technical information and reports.
- Keep abreast of technical innovation, and ensure that our advice adds value and complies with recognised best practice, technical guidance and legislation.
- Knowledge of common analytical modelling packages such as the RTM spreadsheet, CLEA spreadsheet, ConSim, or RAM will be required, and further experience in numerical groundwater modelling such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW would be welcomed.
The successful candidate must also have:
- Excellent attitude to teamwork and a strong desire to learn and develop your career further.
- Ability to identify new business opportunities/clients in collaboration with the wider team and other Directors.
- Field experience of different drilling techniques in a variety of geological settings, the collection of soil, groundwater and surface water monitoring data, and aquifer testing.
- Experience in delegating workload to team members and mentoring more junior staff development.
- Degree (BSc / BEng) in relevant subject preferably with relevant Masters (MSc) or postgraduate qualification.
- Must be chartered with GeolSoc, IES, IEMA, CIWEM or equivalent.
- A UK Driving licence is required.
