I'm working with a well-established environmental and engineering consultancy that is continuing to grow its water team and is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Drainage Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical delivery with client management and mentoring responsibilities, while working on a diverse range of development and infrastructure projects.

The role will see you leading the delivery of drainage and flood risk projects from inception through to completion.

You'll develop detailed hydraulic models, produce high-quality drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments, prepare technical drawings and reports, and provide expert advice on surface water and wastewater management.

Alongside technical delivery, you'll build strong client relationships, contribute to fee proposals, oversee project performance, and provide guidance and support to more junior engineers.

You'll need a strong understanding of UK planning policy relating to drainage and flood risk, including Su DS, the NPPF and Non-Statutory Technical Standards.

Experience using software such as Micro Drainage, Causeway Flow+, GIS, Flood Modeller or similar is essential, while Auto CAD or Civil 3D experience would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil, Water or Environmental Engineering (or a related discipline), several years' consultancy experience within drainage or flood risk, and excellent technical report writing and project management skills.

Professional membership, or progression towards chartership, would be welcomed.

In return, you'll join a consultancy that genuinely values flexible working, professional development and career progression.

You'll work alongside a collaborative team on a broad portfolio of projects while enjoying the autonomy to manage your own workload and develop your technical expertise.

If you're looking to take the next step in your drainage engineering career with a forward-thinking consultancy that invests in its people, I'd be delighted to tell you more.
