A market-leading consultancy operating at the forefront of the built environment and life-safety sector is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to join its UK fire engineering capability. This is a genuine opportunity to work on high-profile, technically complex projects across multiple sectors, providing expert fire engineering input from early concept through design, construction and into operational use.
The role offers both technical depth and client-facing influence, with clear scope to shape solutions rather than simply review them. If you enjoy solving complex problems, influencing design outcomes, and being trusted as a subject matter expert, this role offers the platform - and project quality - to match.
You will lead and deliver fire engineering services across a varied portfolio of projects, supporting clients, designers and approval bodies with robust, innovative and compliant fire strategies. The role combines hands-on technical analysis with project leadership, proposal input and client engagement.
You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, developing fire strategies, undertaking detailed fire engineering analysis (including smoke, radiation and structural considerations), supporting construction teams, attending site when required and producing high-quality technical reports. You will also contribute to bids and tenders, help shape delivery models, and manage project teams, budgets and programmes.
This role will suit a fire engineer who is confident operating independently, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and approval authorities, and motivated by technical excellence. You are likely to have a degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with demonstrable experience delivering fire engineering solutions in the UK market.
Chartered status (or active progress toward it) is important, as is strong analytical capability, clear technical writing and the ability to prioritise across multiple live projects. Experience of site inspections, construction-stage support and existing buildings is essential, with structural fire engineering experience viewed as a strong advantage.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is curious, commercially aware, client-focused and keen to continuously improve how fire engineering is delivered. This is not a narrow or siloed position. You will work on large, challenging and genuinely interesting projects for high-profile clients, alongside recognised experts in their field.
The organisation offers excellent career development, visible progression routes and the opportunity to take real ownership of work. The reward package is highly competitive, with a strong base salary, annual review, bonus scheme, generous pension, flexible benefits, enhanced family policies and a strong wellbeing offering. Flexible working is fully supported, and the culture is one that values expertise, trust and long-term development.
