A senior leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Safety, Health & Environment (Operations) to lead SHE delivery across a large, highly regulated infrastructure organisation with a national footprint. Reporting into executive safety leadership, the role is central to driving a Zero Harm culture and ensuring strong governance, compliance and operational performance.
The position has accountability for SHE operations across transmission, distribution, environmental management, property and contract partners, acting as a key link between operational delivery and strategic oversight. The Director will provide expert leadership on SHE policy and regulatory compliance, ensure audit readiness, support executive and regulatory reporting, and play a critical role in incident and crisis response.
Building and developing a high‑performing senior SHE leadership team and maintaining effective relationships with regulators and industry bodies are also core to the role.
Candidates will bring extensive senior‑level experience in health and safety within high‑risk, regulated environments, typically supported by a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered IOSH status. A strong knowledge of UK safety and environmental legislation, a proven ability to lead multiple SHE functions, and experience driving cultural and performance improvement are essential. Regular UK‑wide travel, including to a London head office, forms part of the role.
The organisation offers a competitive executive remuneration package, comprehensive benefits and a hybrid working model.
Committed to inclusiveness in the workplace, we aim to increase diversity across all areas and therefore welcome applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, or whether or not they have a disability.
