An established UK manufacturing business is seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead its safety function and drive a strong, compliant safety culture across all operations. This role is responsible for maintaining full legislative compliance, developing robust H&S procedures, and ensuring facilities and working practices meet the highest safety standards.
Acting as a key member of the management team, the position provides cross-functional support on continuous improvement, oversees accident and near-miss investigations, and maintains accurate and auditable safety records across multiple systems. The successful candidate will take ownership of risk assessments, site inductions, training programmes, environmental impact initiatives, and routine H&S reporting to the leadership team.
They will ensure safe handling of chemicals, effective management of effluent and water treatment processes, and adherence to relevant regulations including COSHH, RIDDOR, PUWER and DSEAR. Strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels are essential.
This role suits a hands-on, solutions-driven H&S professional with experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, a proven track record in compliance management, confidence leading investigations, and the capability to implement meaningful improvements. The position offers an opportunity to shape safety standards, lead cultural change, and guide the organisation toward best-in-class H&S performance.
It is expected that candidates will be qualified to NEBOSH Certificate standard but likely TechIOSH or a NEBOSH Diploma would be ideal.
