A senior leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Safety, Health & Environment (Operations) to lead SHE delivery across a large, highly regulated infrastructure organisation with a national footprint. Reporting into executive safety leadership, the role is central to driving a Zero Harm culture and ensuring strong governance, compliance and operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • The position has accountability for SHE operations across transmission, distribution, environmental management, property and contract partners, acting as a key link between operational delivery and strategic oversight.
  • The Director will provide expert leadership on SHE policy and regulatory compliance, ensure audit readiness, support executive and regulatory reporting, and play a critical role in incident and crisis response.
  • Building and developing a high‑performing senior SHE leadership team and maintaining effective relationships with regulators and industry bodies are also core to the role.

Qualifications

  • Candidates will bring extensive senior‑level experience in health and safety within high‑risk, regulated environments, typically supported by a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered IOSH status.
  • A strong knowledge of UK safety and environmental legislation, a proven ability to lead multiple SHE functions, and experience driving cultural and performance improvement are essential.
  • Regular UK‑wide travel, including to a London head office, forms part of the role.
