Principal Energy Consultant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Energy Consultant to join a growing Energy Services team within a leading independent energy consultancy.
This client-facing role will focus on delivering Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) assessments, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) compliance services, and wider carbon reporting and sustainability projects for organisations across a range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ESOS assessments, conduct site audits, analyse energy data, prepare high-quality reports, and provide practical recommendations to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
- Deliver ESOS audits, prepare SECR disclosures, calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions using GHG Protocol methodologies, support clients with net‑zero strategies, and contribute to voluntary reporting frameworks.
- Build strong client relationships, attend meetings and site visits across the UK, support business development activities, and mentor junior consultants within the team.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience delivering ESOS assessments and a strong understanding of SECR requirements, greenhouse gas reporting, and energy data analysis.
- Excellent report‑writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to travel across the UK.
- ESOS Lead Assessor accreditation; chartered status (or progress towards it); experience with ISO 50001 or Carbon Reduction Plans is advantageous.
