The company’s principal focus now is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants.

    Role Description

    The Principal Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering projects, including resource planning, design review, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget. They will also be responsible for client liaison, mentoring and reviewing the work of engineers and CAD technicians, and the conceptual and detailed design of construction methods and temporary structures.

    Must Have Skills

  • Minimum 12 years post-graduation experience in analysis and design of structures, particularly in steel
  • Experience of technical team leadership and management
  • Temporary works and construction engineering knowledge, particularly heavy lifting equipment and techniques
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in the use of Eurocodes for design
  • Excellent problem solving, presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Nice to Have Skills

  • Chartered Engineer with a good degree (min 2:1) in civil/structural engineering
  • Experience in the design and construction of long span bridges and major buildings
  • Experience in design of specialist temporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
  • Some site and/or industrial practical experience
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001 and experience in company management systems
