We are recruiting a Senior Business Development Manager to support the global and London Digital, Data, IP, and Technology (DDIT) group.
Department purpose
Our Marketing, Business Development and Communications (MBD&C) team contributes to the firm's business objectives, supporting partners and associates, building client relationships, increasing global visibility, and positioning the firm as a thought leader among elite law firms. The team collaborates across the globe with central groups, practice areas, sectors, and clients.
Role purpose
DDIT advises on complex commercial contracts, especially IP, technology, and data-rich deals. This role provides strategic support to the global group and manages day-to-day business development for the London practice. The candidate will help enhance business development impact both globally and locally, working closely with senior practice members, sector BD teams, and leadership to ensure successful marketing and BD plan delivery.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead proposal, pitch, and credentials preparation for London and global DDIT opportunities.
- Create a global process for managing pitches and credentials, including training and guidance for regional teams.
- Lead legal directory and award submissions.
- Develop new opportunities leveraging the firm’s international BD network and innovative ideas.
- Coordinate cross-practice, multi-jurisdictional client events.
- Work with partners to define and implement a cohesive BD strategy, focusing on collaboration and engagement with priority clients.
- Manage global and regional budgets, monitor spend, and report ROI.
- Contribute to business plans and act as an internal BD consultant and coach.
- Develop client targeting and cross-selling programs.
- Use market research to identify new opportunities and execute business development actions.
- Monitor client work, identify additional opportunities, and develop strategies.
- Generate marketing communications, thought leadership campaigns, and client events.
- Advise on communication channels and oversee event organization.
- Manage marketing processes and coordinate with media relations.
- Stay updated with market trends and use data to inform strategy.
- Provide training on business development techniques and support team development.
Key requirements:
- Ability to challenge and influence at senior levels, with significant BD/marketing experience at Manager or Senior Manager level.
- Strong client focus, leadership, communication skills, and ability to manage teams and change.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, professional, politically astute, and capable of working under pressure.
