A new interim opportunity has arisen within a central government department for an experienced Programme Finance Manager to support a portfolio of large-scale programmes undergoing significant transformation and restructuring.
Reporting into senior programme and finance leadership, this role will provide specialist Programme Finance capability across programme-level financial planning, forecasting and performance management. The postholder will develop and maintain robust programme financial plans, baselines and forecasts, build scenario and sensitivity models covering cost, schedule, risk and benefits, and produce high-quality monthly financial management information, including variance analysis and risk reporting, for senior boards and governance forums.
The role will also support major business cases, approvals and assurance activity, contribute to benefits management and financial risk control, and ensure compliance with HMT and GMPP financial governance requirements. In addition, the postholder will oversee programme project accounting, strengthen financial data quality and audit readiness, and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
You should hold a relevant professional finance qualification, or equivalent experience, with a proven background in Programme Finance within complex programme environments. This is a specialist discipline distinct from corporate accounting and requires strong financial modelling, forecasting and governance expertise. Given the senior stakeholders involved, excellent communication skills and the ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information will be essential.
