Are you an accomplished HR leader with the credibility to influence at Executive level and lead a people function through a period of strategic change?

I am partnering with a high-profile national central government organisation who is looking to appoint an Interim Head of Human Resources on a 6-month temporary basis.

They play a vital role in supporting the UK's financial stability and economic resilience.

They are located in the heart of London, and the organisation goes into the office 3-days per week.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for providing strategic HR leadership across the organisation.

You will act as a trusted adviser to the Executive Team, ensuring the organisation has the people, capability and culture required to deliver its objectives while leading a modern, high-performing HR function.

The Interim Head of Human Resources role is paying up to £725 per day (Inside IR35). Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Acting as the principal adviser to the Executive Team on all strategic and operational people matters, influencing key organisational decisions.
  • Leading and developing the HR function, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, commercially focused and customer-centred HR service.
  • Driving organisational design, workforce planning and change initiatives, ensuring the organisation has the capability and operating model to deliver its strategic priorities.
  • Providing expert leadership on complex employee relations matters, employment law, governance and people risk.
  • Championing an inclusive, high-performing culture through progressive approaches to diversity, wellbeing, learning and leadership development.
  • Using workforce analytics and organisational insight to inform decision-making, shape policy and support continuous improvement.
  • Building strong relationships across the organisation, acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders and representing the People function at Executive Committees and other senior forums.
  • Deputising for the Chief People Officer where required, providing visible leadership across the wider People agenda.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced senior HR professional with a proven track record of partnering with Executive teams within a large, complex organisation.

You will bring significant experience of organisational transformation, strategic workforce planning, organisational design and leading high-performing HR teams.

Equally important is your ability to build credibility quickly, influence at the most senior levels and balance strategic thinking with pragmatic delivery.

A strong understanding of employment law, employee relations and modern people practices is essential, alongside a genuine commitment to creating inclusive, high-performing workplaces.

The interview process will consist of two stages, with the successful candidate expected to start at short notice.
