Allen Lane is supporting a not-for-profit organisation in their recruitment for a Legal Manager temporarily.

This is an initial 3-month daily rate contract with 2-3 days a week required.

The role of Legal Manager reports to the Director of Legal & Governance and you will assist them in ensuring the legal function of the organisation runs efficiently and smoothly by providing a range of support, including preparing various legal documents such as grants and service agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and legal requirements and working closely with colleagues across the organisation.

You will contribute to the smooth functioning of legal processes and ensure that colleagues and external stakeholders receive an efficient service.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Legal and Governance in effectively managing legal risk
  • Support with the development and management of the suite of legal templates in use across the organisation, proactively identifying areas for improvement and development and working collaboratively to develop new templates as needed
  • Working with colleagues across the organisation to prepare grant agreements and other contracts for onward approval
  • Supporting colleagues in negotiations with partners
  • Support with the development of relevant policies and processes, such as contract management and authorization
  • Liaise across the organisation to ensure that all internal legal processes are well understood and are being followed
  • Monitor the evolving compliance / regulatory environment and highlight relevant updates and changes
  • Undertake legal research and assist with legal queries as requested
  • Manage the administrative work that is necessary to implement the measures associated with managing our legal risk, including liaising with external legal counsel when required
  • Handle confidential information and maintain in line with GDPR and data security policies
  • Maintaining, drafting documents and organizing files ensuring effective record keeping
  • Attend meetings, take minutes and note actions as needed
  • Respond as appropriate to internal and external emails and communications
