Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure high-quality case work and decision-making in the POCU, providing effective technical case direction and decision-making.
- Ensure that investigations are conducted thoroughly, fairly and independently and that the POCU takes an outcomes-focused, risk-based approach to its work.
- Drive performance, productivity, quality and consistency through leadership and management of the POCU, providing regular support and development of direct report and team.
- Manage relationships with the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Legal Services Board in relation to the POCU’s work.
- Responsibility for updating Senior Leadership Team and Board as required.
- Ensure the confidence of the public and profession in the efficacy and effectiveness of the work of the POCU.
- Responsibility for performance monitoring of the POCU and reporting and delivering on performance measures and business objectives.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified solicitor, barrister of FILEX in England and Wales or the equivalent in a foreign common law jurisdiction (must be entitled to hold a practising certificate).
- Demonstrable experience in leadership in a complex, high-profile setting.
- Record of leading and improving operational delivery and established experience of managing teams delivering high-profile, complex investigations.
- Significant regulatory experience in another professional services or risk-based regulator. Knowledge of public and administrative law.
- Excellent communication skills, strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across senior levels.
