Are you an interim Head of Learning & Organisation Development professional with experience of managing a team? Would you like to work for an interesting marine focused government organisation over the next 6-months? The organisation provides data, information and expert marine advice to the UK government to ensure our oceans thrive in a changing world. Through analysis and data from seabed to surface, they help partners around the world make the best use of our marine environment.

The organisation is located in the south-west of England, where the Head of Learning & Organisation Development will lead a small but high performing team. This 6-month role enables the post holder to work from home 2 days per week. This hybrid job is paying up to £470-£500 per day umbrella.

My client is seeking a strategic leader to drive culture change and organisational development. You'll shape leadership, learning, and talent strategies to embed their vision, support transformation, and future-proof their workforce.

The key responsibilities of this 6-month role include:

  • Strategic Culture Leadership - Proven ability to lead large-scale cultural change aligned with organisational vision and values.
  • Organisational Development Expertise - Strong track record in delivering OD interventions that drive engagement, performance, and transformation.
  • Leadership & Management Development - Skilled in designing and delivering leadership development frameworks across all levels.
  • Talent Strategy & Succession Planning - Experience in developing and embedding talent pipelines that support diversity, inclusion, and future workforce needs.
  • Learning & Development Innovation - Ability to shape, evaluate, and evolve L&D offerings, leveraging digital tools and modern practices.
  • Collaborative Leadership - Adept at influencing and working with executive teams, senior leaders, and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior Learning and Organisation Development professional who is able to juggle a varied workload. This position requires someone that has had experience of being involved in culture change projects previously, influencing stakeholders when required. As my client will need someone to hit the ground running, it would be very beneficial to have civil service experience. This role will suit a team player with excellent communication skills.

My client is keen to appoint someone who can start as soon as possible, so it is very beneficial to have an active BPSS. Interviews will take place at their HQ near Taunton, so all candidates must be comfortable commuting there on a regular basis.
