Allen Lane are supporting a government agency on their recruitment for a temporary Corporate Performance and Risk Advisor. The Corporate Performance and Transparency Advisor plays a pivotal role in coordinating and supporting corporate planning and performance management activities in alignment with the organisations strategic objectives.

Working closely with Executive Directors and Heads of Department, the post holder will produce governance reports for presentation to the Executive Team and Audit and Risk Committee. The post holder will also provide high-quality secretarial support to the Audit and Risk Committee and ensure the effective delivery of the internal audit plan, maintain strong relationships with internal auditors, and oversee planning for the audit cycle.

In addition, they will lead on gathering data from multiple sources and publishing this information on the public website, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to transparency. This position is critical to maintaining robust governance, compliance, and organisational accountability.

  • Ensure all internal annual audit plans are delivered smoothly and in line with the agreed schedule.
  • Monitor and follow up on audit actions, ensuring timely completion and submission of update reports to the Executive Team (ET) and Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
  • Provide high-quality secretarial support to the ARC, including agenda preparation, accurate minute-taking, and timely circulation of papers.
  • Issue calls for papers, send reminders to authors to meet submission deadlines, and maintain a strong working relationship with the ARC Chair.
  • Prepare the ARC Chair’s Annual Report and coordinate the annual self-assessment survey.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Transparency section of The National Archives website, ensuring mandatory information is published accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with content owners to secure monthly data submissions, escalating delays where necessary.
  • Refresh and redesign transparency pages as required to ensure clarity, compliance, and accessibility.

Essential criteria:

  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate documentation in line with corporate style.
  • Proven experience in governance, audit coordination, compliance, or related roles.
  • High attention to detail and ability to interpret and present complex data sets clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence senior managers to deliver to deadlines.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with transparency requirements and corporate reporting processes.

Part-time (3 days a week) - A combination of onsite and home working is available. The post holder will have access to Official-Sensitive data and will be required to work in a confidential and sensitive manner.
