Allen Architects is looking for a recently qualified Part 3 architect or an experienced Part 2 architectural assistant to join our studio in South East London.
We’re a small, friendly architectural practice working across a range of residential and commercial projects. We’re looking for someone who will enjoy being part of our team, getting stuck into projects and developing their career with us.
The role
As a small practice, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in all stages of a project — from early ideas and design development through to technical delivery, site and completion.
You’ll work closely with our team, clients, consultants and contractors, and will be encouraged to take ownership of your work. We want this to be a place where you can learn, contribute and grow, taking on more responsibility as your experience develops.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about architecture, curious about how buildings work and keen to build their experience across the profession.
Key responsibilities
- Explore and develop design ideas that respond to the project brief, technical requirements and client needs
- Carry out measured surveys and prepare site reports. Develop presentations and drawings using AutoCAD
- Take designs from early concepts through to technical development, coordinating with engineers, manufacturers and consultants
- Produce drawings and supporting information for planning, building control, tender and construction stages
- Attend project and site meetings and, with support from the wider team, undertake site inspections and contract administration duties
- Maintain project records and quality assurance information, and communicate effectively with clients and project teams
Skills, qualifications and experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Architecture (RIBA Part 3) or Part 2 qualification or equivalent overseas qualification
- Experience working within a UK-based architectural practice, ideally across a range of RIBA work stages
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro, Adobe Creative Suite and NBS Chorus
- Ability to develop detailed technical proposals while maintaining a high level of design quality
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with clients, contractors, consultants and suppliers
- A good understanding of UK statutory regulations and the construction process
- Most importantly, a positive attitude, willingness to learn and enthusiasm for being part of a small team.
