About the Role

The role is available for immediate start, subject to a three‑month probation period (with a structured training plan provided for trainee applicants). In this role you will lead and support teams of experienced archaeologists and trainees on a diverse range of projects, primarily based from our offices in Lincoln or Preston with opportunities to work across a variety of sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support teams of archaeologists and trainees across projects.
  • Manage day‑to‑day project activities, ensuring timely completion of post‑excavation analysis and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and colleagues, giving instructions and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain and deliver high‑quality archaeological work.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of British archaeology of all periods
  • Experience of post‑excavation analysis and reporting (desirable for trainees)
  • Enthusiasm and strong ability in archaeological field practices
  • Willingness to work on or lead a team
  • Courteous and professional manner
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Experience of supervising staff (desirable for trainees)
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive outlook
  • Driving licence

  • Relevant archaeological qualification
