Job description

To work safely and efficiently as part of the Allelys Projects Installations team, carrying out all aspects of work including but not limited to jacking, skidding and lifting operations at site locations nationwide.

Key responsibilities

  • To work primarily as part of the Project Installations team.

On occasions to assist with other Allelys company activities as required to meet business needs (for example, with the Heavy Haulage team).

  • To carry out jacking, skidding and lifting operations as instructed by the Allelys Site Supervisor / Project Manager and in accordance with the project RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement).
  • Perform role based at Allelys Studley yard and working at various site locations across the UK and Ireland, or other location if required, as instructed by your line manager.
  • To work safely at all times and perform duties in adherence with Allelys Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all third-party site rules and procedures at all times when working on site.
  • To represent Allelys in a professional and respectful manner to colleagues, customers and third parties at all times.
  • Only use plant and machinery if safe to do so and only after receiving appropriate training and certification.
  • Carry out a visual inspection of lifting equipment before use and report any damage or defects to the Site Supervisor.
  • Responsible for reporting any problems, equipment malfunctions, damage or defects, accidents or incidents to the Site Supervisor, Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • Assist with maintenance of Allelys equipment as and when required.
  • Carry out manual handling activities safely.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of equipment to road transport vehicles when based at the Allelys Studley yard.
  • Attend appropriate in-house and external training courses when requested (for example, crane slinger/signaller and fork lift truck operator).

  • Self-motivated and able to work equally well as part of a team or on your own.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to follow RAMS and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Hands‑on approach, getting ‘stuck in’ both on site and at the Allelys Studley yard, whilst considering the safety of yourself and other team members.
  • Resilient in nature, with a “can do”, positive attitude whilst working under pressure should difficult situations arise.
  • Professional approach to all work duties, demonstrated through consistently high standards of performance.
  • Flexible and reliable, willing to work a reasonable amount of overtime according to workload.
  • Ability to work from the Allelys Studley yard, sometimes for extended periods of time.

Skills & qualifications required

Essential

  • Good knowledge of the Heavy Lift industry.
  • Site experience in engineered construction.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic jacking systems.
  • Full driving licence.
  • CITB Safety Passport / CSCS labourer’s card.
  • Slinger Signaller CPCS / NPORS.
  • Telehandler CPCS / NPORS.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Excellent organisation skills, both personal and professional.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own.
  • Willing and able to travel, work remotely and stay away overnight for varying durations.

Desirable

  • Crane Supervisor CPCS.
  • MEWP IPAF.

  • Position reports to: Operations Manager
  • Location: Allelys Head Office, Studley / various site locations across the UK and Ireland
  • Hours: 40+ hours per week as required, with travel, remote working and nights away for varying durations
