Allegro MicroSystems, a global leader in power and sensing solutions, is looking for a Digital Design Team Lead to define and implement the digital architecture for our industry‑leading mixed‑signal motor drive ICs. This role will lead a growing, dynamic team in our Edinburgh Design Center and influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and solve challenging automotive motor control problems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Execution: Take full ownership of digital design project schedules for the Edinburgh team. Coordinate tasks across the standard workflow (RTL, Verification, DFT, Synthesis) to ensure on‑time delivery of tapeout‑ready designs.
  • Drive Technical Strategy: Define the digital architectural roadmap for motor drivers, ensuring alignment between team output and broader global product lines.
  • Manage Resources & Risk: Proactively identify technical bottlenecks or resource gaps within the team.
  • Cross‑Functional Interface: Act as the primary digital technical point of contact for the Edinburgh centre when communicating with Marketing, Systems, and Analog Design.
  • Mentor and Collaborate: Act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment across the multi‑site team.
  • Guarantee First‑Pass Silicon Success: Partner with the verification team to define success criteria, ensure comprehensive functional coverage, and oversee Functional Safety (FuSa) compliance (ISO 26262).

Qualifications

  • Proven Leadership: 2+ years of experience leading small‑to‑medium sized design teams.
  • Process Advocate: Deep understanding of the Digital Design Workflow with a proven commitment to maintaining high quality standards and execution excellence.
  • Technical Expertise: 8+ years in digital design or architecture, ranging from complex algorithmic IP to full SoC designs including CPU subsystems and interconnect fabrics (e.g., AMBA/AXI).
  • Academic Background: PhD or Master’s degree in Electronics or a related field.
  • Communication Specialist: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical roadmaps to diverse audiences.

Additional Skills (Plus if you have)

  • Expertise with Cadence toolsets for the entire front‑end design flow.
  • Direct experience leading ISO 26262 compliant designs (ASIL B/D).

Travel Requirements

This role may require domestic and international travel up to 10‑20% to support customers, vendors, and off‑site design teams in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
