Role Summary:
As the EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and input on environmental, health, and safety issues during the initial stages of projects. You will engage with EHS and Engineering SMEs to ensure all EHS requirements are embedded in the design and planning stages, up until the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary EHS contact for project teams, providing expertise and guidance on EHS requirements from project conception to design completion.
- Collaborate with EHS and Engineering SMEs to incorporate EHS considerations into initial designs, user requirements briefs, and change controls.
- Ensure that EHS standards, regulations, and best practices are integrated into project plans and designs.
- Conduct EHS risk assessments and hazard analyses, recommending mitigation strategies.
- Review and provide EHS input on project documentation, including design specifications and technical drawings.
- Develop EHS briefing materials and deliver presentations to project stakeholders as necessary.
- Facilitate communication between project teams, ensuring transparency and awareness of EHS issues and solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS regulations, industry standards, and best practices applicable to ongoing projects.
- Support the development and implementation of new EHS policies and procedures as required.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of EHS strategies within project development.
- Carry out Gambas and walkthroughs to feed into project documentation, including design specifications and technical drawings.
Competency Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience at Pharma or similar company.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, with a focus on project management or design phases.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Proven experience working with EHS and Engineering teams to integrate EHS considerations into project planning and design.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to analyse complex data and provide practical EHS solutions.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- EHS certification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma) or equivalent is preferred.
