The Medical Affairs Capability Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering capability‐building programs for Medical Affairs teams across global, regional, and local levels. This role works closely with Capability Directors and key stakeholders to understand capability gaps and develop relevant, meaningful learning initiatives. These programs are embedded into everyday ways of working to enhance employee skills, improve performance, and ultimately support better outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Medical Affairs capability initiatives, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
  • Partner with Capability Directors to identify capability needs and support program design, delivery, measurement, and sustainability, with a strong focus on:
  • External engagement excellence
  • Evidence generation
  • Manage stakeholders effectively to ensure smooth deployment of capability programs across regions.
  • Contribute the Medical Affairs perspective into broader company‐wide capability programs to ensure relevance and impact.
  • Stay informed on future trends, innovation, and digital advances and incorporate them into learning programs to enhance engagement and effectiveness.
  • Manage external vendors and partners to ensure:
    • High‐quality deliverables
    • Consistent global standards
    • Efficient use of budgets (e.g., MSL Leader Coaching, external engagement programs)
  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of internal capability resource platforms, ensuring content remains current and relevant.
  • Track and manage program budgets in partnership with Capability Directors, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating program impact and making enhancements to accelerate upskilling and performance improvement.
  • Build and maintain a network of subject matter experts (SMEs) to support program design at both global and local levels.
  • Monitor the evolving healthcare and external environment and assess its impact on Medical Affairs capability needs.
  • Basic Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
    • At least 3 years of experience in project management or a similar operational role.
    • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance standards related to promotion and scientific engagement (e.g., IMC).
    • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
    • Ability to present confidently to senior leaders and cross‐functional stakeholders.
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem‐solving capabilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders across regions.
    • Experience working on transformational or change initiatives aligned to organizational strategy.
    • Proven ability to work across different time zones and cultures.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
    • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs functions and activities.
    • Experience leading capability‐building or organizational change initiatives.
    • Ability to build relationships based on trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.
