A rare and exciting opportunity to join a market leading growth debt firm who specialize in financing rapidly scaling technology companies. As Associate on the investment team, you will start by supporting the investment Vice Presidents and Partners across the full deal cycle, with a view to grow and lead deals as you develop a career within the fund over the longer term. You will be responsible for evaluating fund investment opportunities and deal execution, with responsibilities increasing over time. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and running of the fund over the long term. We are looking for a high performer at Analyst/Associate level who is commercially astute with solid financial training and strong EQ that will be encouraged to grow with the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the investment team in appraising new investment opportunities and deal origination
- Leading initial screening calls and making recommendations to the teams after evaluating key merits and risks
- Working directly with Partners and VPs to conduct underwriting, including in-depth due diligence, support in structuring the deal, investment memorandum preparation and closing
- Preparing financial models accurately based on company projections
- Assisting in legal documentation negotiation and closing for new investments
- Attending events and meeting other VCs to start building a network and originate
- Undertaking monthly calls with entrepreneurs or CFOs and building strong relationships with existing portfolio companies
- Management and execution of legal processes for existing portfolio (e.g. consents/waivers, fundraising, refinancing, exits, prepayments, restructuring/rescheduling and other corporate actions)
Requirement
- 2+ years of experience within a relevant transaction based role within an Investment Bank or Fund
- Strong financial and management accounting skills
- Strong financial modelling skills in Excel
- Highly numerate, detail-oriented, methodical in prioritising work and multi-tasking and able to demonstrate attention to detail
- Great communication skills with the ability to run internal and external meetings and the willingness to originate in market via events and networking
- Understanding of private equity or venture industry
- Ability to work with discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential information
- Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment and passion for growth stage companies
