The Financial Director will be responsible for leading operational finance functions across the firm’s global infrastructure portfolio. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will focus on managing the financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring the efficient management of the firm’s financial processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and deep expertise in operational finance, specifically within the infrastructure or investment management sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the infrastructure funds and management companies, including cash management, financial reporting, accounting, and budgeting processes. Implement and optimize financial systems and processes to ensure efficient operational performance and accurate reporting. Work closely with the CFO to ensure alignment between operational finance and the strategic financial goals of the fund. Regular participation in boards and assisting in the quarterly Funds valuation process. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, including quarterly and annual reports for senior management, investors, and regulatory bodies. Provide operational and financial performance analysis, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities. Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and fund-level reporting requirements.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage the firm’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations, investments, and capital deployment. Work with the CFO to develop strategies for optimizing cash flow and ensuring financial stability across global operations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with senior management and investment teams to ensure financial targets are met. Design and maintain detailed financial models to support forecasting and budgetary decisions. Provide ongoing analysis of financial performance, offering insights and recommendations to improve financial outcomes.
- Investor & Stakeholder Relations: Support the CFO in managing relationships with investors, lenders, and other key stakeholders by providing relevant financial information and addressing queries.
- Tax and Structuring: Ensure professional tax advice is obtained and implemented for our Funds and Corporate entities, including transfer pricing analysis, and managed throughout the full life cycle. Ensure the firm maintains strong internal controls and financial governance across all finance operations. Lead audit process, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements inclusive of FCA reporting, and tax laws across different jurisdictions. Work closely with internal and external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams. Lead and mentor a team of global finance professionals, promoting a high-performance culture within the finance department. Work closely with cross-functional teams (investment, operations, capital formation, legal, etc.) to ensure financial objectives are met and financial processes are efficient. Foster the development of the finance team through training, guidance, and career progression support. Assist with managing staff co-investment and carry schemes.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Evaluate and implement process improvements within the financial operations to drive efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve accuracy. Leverage technology and financial systems to streamline reporting and financial analysis processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: A professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance roles, with at least 5 years in an operational finance leadership capacity, ideally within infrastructure, private equity, or asset management. Proven experience in managing financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management in a global or multi-jurisdictional context. Strong understanding of infrastructure investments and related financial models. Experience working directly with senior management and investors to communicate financial performance and strategy. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a finance team while working collaboratively across global departments. Excellent financial modelling, analysis, and reporting skills, with the ability to provide actionable insights to senior leaders. High proficiency in financial software and tools such as Excel and other platforms. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts and data to non-financial stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards (IFRS), and compliance requirements. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
