Job Summary:
The General Manager (GM) will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations and strategic direction of Fragrance Direct. This role demands a dynamic leader who can balance business strategy with day-to-day management, driving growth and operational efficiency while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. The GM will work closely with the Senior Management Team to set company goals, optimize processes, and enhance the customer experience to ensure Fragrance Direct remains a leader in the online fragrance market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
a. Work with a cross-functional team, including marketing, operations, customer service, and technology.
b. Create a culture within Maximo of accountability, collaboration, and performance across the organization. - Business Strategy & Growth:
a. Develop and execute business strategies to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and enhance brand recognition in the competitive online fragrance market.
b. Identify new business opportunities, including new fragrance product lines, partnerships, and market expansion.
c. Work with teams to conduct regular market analysis to stay ahead of trends and capitalize on emerging opportunities. - Operations & Supply Chain Management:
a. Oversee day-to-day operations working with internal service teams including inventory management, order fulfilment, and supply chain logistics.
b. Ensure products are available and delivered to customers on time, with an emphasis on operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
c. Develop processes to improve operational workflows, minimize costs, and enhance the overall customer experience. - Financial Management:
a. Manage the overall budget and P&L, ensuring the business remains profitable and financially healthy.
b. Collaborate with the finance team to monitor and analyse financial performance, including sales growth, margins, and expenses.
c. Use financial data to make decisions and achieve revenue and profitability targets. - Marketing & Customer Engagement:
a. Work with the marketing team to develop and execute digital marketing strategies that drive traffic, customer engagement, and sales conversion.
b. Ensure the online user experience is seamless, from browsing to purchase, with a focus on customer satisfaction and retention.
c. Stay current on digital trends and customer preferences to ensure Fragrance Direct’s marketing campaigns and promotions are always relevant and impactful. - Vendor & Supplier Relationships:
a. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with fragrance suppliers, manufacturers, and other key partners with the buying and commercial team.
b. Ensure FD negotiate favourable terms for purchasing, delivery, and exclusivity agreements.
c. Manage product selection to ensure it aligns with customer preferences and seasonal trends. - Performance Tracking & Reporting:
a. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and marketing effectiveness.
b. Regularly report to senior leadership on business performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
c. Adjust strategies based on data insights to ensure continued growth and success.
General Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
- 5+ years’ experience in e-commerce leadership, preferably within the fragrance, beauty, or retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of the fragrance market, including trends, customer preferences, and key suppliers.
- Proven experience in developing and executing growth strategies for online businesses.
- Expertise in e-commerce platforms, digital marketing, and customer acquisition tactics.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and analyze financial data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Passion for fragrances and the beauty industry is a significant advantage.
