Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Work is very physical so must be physically fit.
- Great dexterity is needed when picking soft fruit to ensure it is harvested undamaged.
- Workers need to be nimble to ensure this.
- Good knowledge of hygiene and cleanliness is essential to ensure the crop is picked in line with the strict specification and quality required.
- A Health and hygiene certificate may be an advantage though not required as full training will be given.
- Most fruit is grown in tunnels so continuity of work is guaranteed, although workers should be prepared to work in poor weather conditions.
- Close attention to detail is important so strict specification guidelines are adhered to.
- Flexibility is required as orders have to be met at all times of day.
Working Times:
- Up to 6 days a week; Approximately 8 hours per day. During peak production working hours may be longer.
Payment & Benefits:
- Weekly directly into your bank account; pay rates are both hourly (£12.71) plus bonus and piecework rates.
- Holiday pay is added at the end of the work period.
- Overtime is paid after 8 hours in the day or after 48 hours in the week.
Hours & Breaks:
- Hours: 6.00 – 14.30. (sometimes earlier start time if warm weather is forecast)
- Breaks: 1hr throughout the day. 2 x 15 minutes and 1 x 30 minutes.
