Head of Geography / Head of Humanities Permanent | From January 2026 (or as soon as possible) A dynamic, high-performing secondary school in London (South) is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of Geography or Head of Humanities to provide visionary leadership across the department(s). The Role * Lead and manage the Geography or Humanities department, including curriculum development, staffing, assessment and quality assurance * Teach across Key Stages 3–5 (as required) * Drive student progress, engagement, and excellence in the subject(s) * Contribute to whole-school initiatives and strategic development * Line-manage subject teachers, mentor early career teachers, and lead CPD The School * Strong track record of academic achievement and continuous improvement * Supportive leadership, committed to professional growth and collaborative practice * Excellent facilities, resources, and departmental support * Serving a diverse student population with high aspirations The Ideal Candidate * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent * Substantial experience teaching Geography / Humanities at secondary level (KS3 to KS5) * Experience in subject leadership (or strong potential) * Strategic thinker with the ability to lead change and drive improvement * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Commitment to inclusive education and raising outcomes for all students Remuneration * Leadership Pay Spine (LPS) or competitive equivalent, commensurate with experience * Generous benefits and pension scheme
