Priory Hospital Market Weighton has an opportunity for a chef to join our team. This role is offered on a Part Time basis working 24 hours per week.
Based in East Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Market Weighton is a level 2 rehabilitation hospital for adult males, offering bespoke and flexible therapeutic programmes with therapies focused on stabilisation, skill acquisition, personal development, community integration, and developing competence and confidence in living skills.
What you'll be doing:
- You will be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients.
- Undertakes the planning, preparation and cooking of meals, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
- Ensuring operational standards comply with the company’s Food Safety policies and guidelines and statutory regulations.
- Takes full shift responsibility for the catering operation (in the absence of the Head Chef).
- Ensures the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food products and the checking/reconciliation of deliveries.
What you'll bring to the role:
- NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent) and a Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Experience preparing meals for large groups to a high standard.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A passion for delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service.
The following experience would be beneficial:
- Experience catering within a healthcare, care home or similar setting.
- Knowledge of specialist diets, including dysphagia, allergens and therapeutic diets.
- Experience ordering stock and controlling food costs.
- Experience supervising or supporting kitchen staff.
- Menu planning and creating nutritious, varied meals to meet dietary and cultural needs.
