£18 per hour basic, plus enhanced rates and paid door-to-door travel. Current engineers in comparable roles earn upwards of £45,000 per year. Ideally Midlands-based | Nationwide travel | Permanent, full-time position, Monday to Friday.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire & Security Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a small, well-established Fire & Security business based in Worcester. With many years of industry experience, the company specialises in the design, installation and maintenance of fire and security systems, supporting clients across the West Midlands and throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, the company is looking for a reliable and motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service. This is a varied role involving the installation, testing, commissioning and handover of fire and security systems across commercial, industrial, healthcare and public-sector environments.

What we need from you:

  • A minimum of three years experience in fire and security installation and commissioning
  • Experience installing and commissioning fire alarms, CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • A good understanding of the relevant British Standards and industry requirements
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A quality-focused approach and pride in your workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team
  • A professional manner when dealing with clients and site teams
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and work wherever projects are located
  • Ideally, live within the Midlands
  • Hold a current UK Driving Licence

What this role involves:

As part of this position, you will be responsible for installing, testing and commissioning a range of fire and security systems, ensuring each project is completed to the required standards and successfully handed over to the client. Duties will include:

  • Installing and commissioning fire alarm systems, CCTV systems, access control systems and intruder alarm systems
  • Testing, fault-finding and troubleshooting systems
  • Completing commissioning documentation and handover records accurately
  • Ensuring all work complies with the relevant British Standards and client requirements
  • Working closely with Project Managers, clients and site teams
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship, customer service and professionalism
  • Following all health and safety requirements while working on site

Travel and working locations:

The company’s sites are located throughout the UK, with travel typically taking between one and two hours each way. Engineers are paid door-to-door, meaning no standard amount of travelling time is deducted from their pay. Where travel to a site takes more than 1.5 hours, engineers have the option of staying in a hotel. Hotel accommodation and associated business expenses are paid for by the company, and the engineer will also receive an allowance to cover incidental expenses. Please be aware that this is a nationwide position and engineers cannot select a preferred working radius. Projects are carried out wherever the company’s customers and sites are located.

Hours: Full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday. Core hours are 7am-5pm, depending on the location.
