About the Role

I Need Staff Today Limited is recruiting on behalf of an established and well-respected environmental services company based in the Wolverhampton (WV10) area. Our client is a specialist provider of hazardous waste management and industrial environmental solutions, supporting customers across a wide range of sectors with compliant waste collection, treatment and disposal services. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Technical Assessor to join their technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Chemistry graduate or an experienced hazardous waste professional looking to develop their career within a highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and classify hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams using analytical data, site information and relevant UK legislation.
  • Review laboratory results, waste profiles, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), risk assessments and technical documentation.
  • Determine suitable treatment, recovery and disposal routes in accordance with environmental legislation and company procedures.
  • Produce accurate technical reports, waste acceptance assessments and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all assessments comply with current UK environmental regulations and industry guidance, including Environmental Permitting Regulations, List of Waste (LoW/EWC), ADR and CLP requirements.
  • Provide technical support to operational, laboratory, logistics and health & safety teams.
  • Liaise professionally with customers and internal departments to resolve technical queries.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, quality systems and technical procedures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum Degree in Chemistry (or an equivalent scientific qualification).
  • Previous experience within hazardous waste management, environmental compliance or a similar technical role is desirable.
  • Good understanding of hazardous waste classification, environmental legislation and waste acceptance processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and make sound technical decisions.
