We're looking for an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our Prismatics team, operating a state-of-the-art Matsuura MAM72 5-Axis Horizontal Machining Centre to produce complex, high-precision aerospace components. What You'll Be Doing
- Setting up and operating the Matsuura MAM72 5-axis machining centre
- Loading programs, fixtures, tooling and components in line with engineering instructions
- Manufacturing complex components from aluminium, titanium, stainless steel and aerospace-grade alloys
- Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T requirements
- Monitoring tool wear and making offsets and tool changes as required
- Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and height gauges
- Maintaining accurate production and traceability records
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing area
- Ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards
What We're Looking For
We're interested in candidates who have experience operating advanced CNC machining centres and a passion for delivering exceptional quality.
- Proven experience operating Matsuura MAM72 or similar 5-axis CNC machining centres
- Aerospace manufacturing experience
- Strong understanding of CNC machining principles
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Experience machining to tight tolerances and demanding surface finish requirements
- Knowledge of aerospace materials including: Aluminium alloys, Titanium, Stainless steels
- Experience using precision inspection equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality focus
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Time-served engineering apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification
- Experience working within an AS9100 environment
- Familiarity with Fanuc-based controls
- Experience of multi-pallet or lights-out manufacturing
- Crane and lifting equipment certification
