Are you an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with a background in supplier containment and recovery within automotive manufacturing?

We are supporting a high-performance automotive manufacturer in their search for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their Surrey-based team on a contract basis. You'll play a key role in protecting production by managing supplier containment activities, driving supplier recovery, and ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented to improve supplier performance.

Role Overview

Working closely with Suppliers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supplier Development, and Quality teams, you'll lead supplier containment activities, reduce quality escapes, and support supplier recovery through effective problem solving and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Controlled Shipping (CSL1 & CSL2) activities through to containment exit
  • Assess supplier quality risks and implement effective containment actions
  • Develop containment plans, inspection standards, and acceptance criteria
  • Monitor supplier performance using PPM, defect trends, and quality metrics
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone
  • Coordinate third-party sorting and containment providers
  • Report on supplier performance, risks, and recovery plans
  • Support cross-functional teams to minimise production disruption

Experience Required:

  • Experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, or Supplier Assurance within automotive manufacturing
  • Experience managing supplier containment activities, including Controlled Shipping (CSL1 & CSL2)
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and 8D problem solving
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience within OEM, Tier 1, motorsport, or high-performance automotive manufacturing is advantageous
  • Must have the independent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
