Our client is one of the South's leading law firms with a clear strategy and vision for the future. They have various offices across Hampshire and Dorset. They are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join their exciting and growing Tax and Estate Planning Department. The right candidate will demonstrate high levels of accuracy, knowledge of the Firm and Departmental needs and procedures, ensure deadlines are met, and be a keen team player. This role will report directly into the Partners within the department.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertaking work under supervision of lawyers as delegated by them, to include:
- Drafting legal documents including Wills and Letters of Wishes
- Drafting Trust documentation
- Routine work in administration of estates
- Scheduling of assets and initial letters to asset/liability holders in estates
- Collection in of estate assets
- Dealing with property matters e.g. paying bills, arranging insurance
- Assist with preparation of estate accounts
- Assist with preparation of legal statements and inheritance tax returns and submission to HMRC.
- Liaising with clients as and when required
- Drafting lasting powers of attorney
- Arranging for circulation, signing and submission of lasting powers of attorney
The Candidate
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly organised
- A good team player
- Flexible and proactive approach
- Ability to work with figures
- A degree in law and/or some private client experience would be a distinct advantage
- Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Willing to take ownership and be accountable for own work
- Ability to generate own work, conduct some business development would be preferred
- A desire to learn and develop
