The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving a variety of packaging production machinery and equipment. You'll work as part of a proactive engineering team, ensuring maximum machine availability while supporting continuous improvement projects across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on packaging and production machinery.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor and automated production systems.
  • Support machinery installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise efficiency and output.
  • Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Contribute to improving reliability, performance and overall plant efficiency.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, packaging, FMCG, plastics, food, recycling or production environment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors and automated machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent) are desirable.
