A rewarding opportunity for a confident, organised and compassionate individual to deliver domestic abuse training, support GP practice teams and provide trauma-informed advocacy, risk assessment and safety planning. This role is known officially as an IRIS Advocate Educator.

SALARY: £25,590 to £27,873 per annum + Benefits
LOCATION: Role will involve working in Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton communities; when not working in the community, the role holder will be expected to work from the Head Office in Sandwell
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (7.5 hours per day)
JOB OVERVIEW: This is a rewarding opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Advocate Educator to join a specialist community service, working with survivors and professionals across GP practices. As a Domestic Abuse Advocate Educator, you will deliver domestic abuse training, provide consultancy to practice teams and support early identification, safe referral and effective responses. Alongside training, the Domestic Abuse Advocate Educator will provide emotional and practical support to standard and medium risk clients, including safety planning, advocacy and signposting.
DUTIES
- Training Delivery: Organise and deliver domestic violence and abuse training to healthcare professionals in participating general practices
- Practice Support: Build strong working relationships with GP practice teams, provide consultancy and encourage safe enquiry, recording and referral
- Client Advocacy: Provide emotional and practical casework support, advice, advocacy and empowerment to individuals experiencing abuse
- Risk and Safety Planning: Assess and review needs and risks, develop safety plans and make safeguarding, IDVA or MARAC referrals where appropriate
- Multi-Agency Working: Liaise with internal services, specialist abuse services and external agencies to support joined-up outcomes
- Awareness Raising: Challenge attitudes towards domestic abuse and promote awareness of survivor experiences and health-related impacts
- Referral Monitoring: Manage referral records, maintain accurate case notes and contribute to data collection, outcome analysis and reports
- Service Quality: Work in line with policies, safeguarding procedures, GDPR, quality standards and local and regional protocols
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- ESSENTIAL
- Degree level education or similar relevant professional qualifications or experience
- Experience of needs and risk assessment and supporting individuals experiencing domestic violence and abuse
- Experience working with victims of domestic abuse, vulnerable adults and children, including safeguarding concerns
- Experience of complex casework, including trauma, mental health, substance use, child abuse and crisis intervention
- Experience building partnerships, working in a multi-agency setting and representing clients at external meetings
- Experience arranging, delivering and reviewing training for professionals
- Knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics, safety planning, safeguarding, civil and criminal justice remedies and relevant legislation
- Ability to manage a caseload, prioritise work, maintain boundaries and communicate sensitively
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, virtual platforms and prepare written reports and presentations
- Full driving licence with willingness to use own vehicle
- Due to an Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, the post holder must be female

DESIRABLE
- Experience using an online case management system
- Experience preparing accurate reports for formal settings
- Experience working within a formal contracting environment and delivering against performance targets
- Willingness to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends when required
