Neon Talent Solutions is supporting an established technical installation business with the appointment of a Technical Commercial Audio-Visual Installations Sales Engineer (Technical Solutions Engineer) to join its Projects team on a full time, permanent basis.

HOME BASED: M5 Corridor Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Cheltenham, Dorset | Regional Travel

This isn't a traditional sales role. It's a hands-on, client-facing opportunity combining technical expertise, solution design, pricing and project delivery. Ideal for an experienced AV Installation Engineer looking to step into a more commercial role, you'll build client relationships, develop solutions, price projects and oversee successful delivery.

What You Will Do As A Technical Sales Engineer

  • Working closely with customers and the Project Management team, you'll identify, price and deliver AV and technical installation projects typically valued between £2,000 and £100,000.
  • You’ll take projects from initial enquiry and site survey through solution development, quotation and securing the work, before managing successful delivery through to completion. Typical projects include stage lighting upgrades, theatre sound systems and commercial AV or lighting installations.
  • Identify and develop project opportunities
  • Carry out client meetings and technical site surveys
  • Develop solutions and prepare quotations/proposals
  • Support tenders and secure new work
  • Manage projects from sale through to completion
  • Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams
  • Manage budgets, costs and commercial performance
  • Prepare RAMS, programmes and project documentation
  • Ensure safe, on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Build long-term client relationships and repeat business

What You Will Bring

  • You’ll come from a hands-on AV or technical installation background, ideally within theatre, education, commercial or similar environments, and be ready to use that technical credibility in a broader customer-facing role.
  • This could suit someone already combining technical and commercial responsibilities, or an experienced Installation Engineer / Lead Engineer looking to progress into client relationships, site surveys, solution development, estimating and pricing.
  • You’ll be an effective communicator with commercial ability, comfortable discussing technical requirements with customers and developing practical solutions that can be delivered successfully and profitably.

Location & Travel: This is a home-based role, ideally suited to someone based along or within practical reach of the M5 corridor across Devon, Somerset and Bristol. Projects span Cornwall through Devon and Somerset to Bristol and Swindon, and across to Dorset, so regular regional travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.
