A leading UK technology innovator is seeking a Senior Electronics / Firmware Engineer to join their growing R&D team in Warwick. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will contribute directly to the design and development of cutting-edge electronic and embedded systems powering an innovative range of measurement products.

You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment spanning electronics hardware, embedded software, cloud/backend systems, and mobile applications playing a key role in shaping both current and next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design robust electronic products from concept through to production, developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Take a hands-on role in hardware and firmware development activities.
  • Oversee PCB design and layout, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.
  • Develop and define test plans for hardware verification and production testing.
  • Support environmental, reliability, and EMC testing during product qualification.
  • Perform circuit analysis including power consumption, component tolerance, and system reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to capture, refine, and implement design requirements.
  • Contribute to design-for-manufacture, design-for-test, and product reliability strategies (DFx).
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience delivering digital electronics designs from concept to production.
  • Strong understanding of microprocessor-based, battery-powered embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded C on microcontrollers.
  • Familiarity with PCB design and layout processes.
  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB).
  • Experience with test, verification, and validation techniques across the product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of hardware engineering principles with exposure to embedded software development.
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines.
Desirable Experience
  • Full product lifecycle development and ownership.
  • Experience with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled battery-powered devices.
  • Exposure to environmental and EMC testing during certification.
  • Experience with production test development and manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of analogue electronics design.
  • Familiarity with mechanical/industrial design or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience supporting certification processes (CE, FCC, ISED).
