Build the desk. Build the team. Build the office.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on recruitment professional who wants more than just another desk. Someone who knows how to bill, knows how to win business, knows how to pick up the phone and importantly wants to build a high-performing team around them. This is an opportunity to join an established recruitment business with a strong contract division and a new but rapidly growing permanent division, and play a key role in shaping what comes next.

The Opportunity

  • Build and own the Permanent Desk: Our permanent division is still in its early stages, but the foundations are already there. Over the last 8 months, we have secured terms with 17 clients, with a number of exclusive relationships already generating significant opportunities. One client alone has generated £200k in billings across multiple offices. You will take ownership of developing these relationships, winning new business and building a profitable permanent desk across both blue-collar and white-collar recruitment. Current roles include: Site Supervisors, Export Sales, Coach Builders, Mechanical Assembly, Quantity Surveyors, Design Engineers. We are looking for someone who is commercial, proactive and hungry to grow the desk, rather than someone who simply waits for vacancies to land.
  • Help build and manage the team: You will also take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of an established team of contract billers who currently report directly into the CEO. You will support them with KPIs and performance management, daily activity and accountability, coaching and development, desk strategy, candidate and client management, revenue growth, and building a high-performance culture. This is a genuinely hands-on management role. We are not looking for someone who wants to sit in an office and manage through spreadsheets. We want someone who will lead from the front and continue to bill themselves.

Who Are We Looking For?

You might currently be a Recruitment Manager, Billing Manager, Senior Recruitment Consultant ready for the next step, Branch Manager, Team Leader, or Senior 360 Recruiter. You will ideally have experience across blue-collar and/or white-collar recruitment, with a proven billing track record and experience of running or supporting a recruitment office or team. Most importantly, you will have the mentality to build rather than maintain. We want someone who still believes recruitment is a relationship business. Someone who isn't afraid to pick up the phone. Someone who understands that sometimes the best business development strategy is simply calling the client, having the conversation and asking for the business. We are looking for an aggressive, old-school approach to business development - backed up by modern commercial thinking.

If your idea of business development is sending 100 LinkedIn messages and hoping someone replies, this probably isn't for you. If you still believe in picking up the phone, getting in front of clients, winning exclusivity and building relationships, we want to hear from you.

Where This Can Go

This role has been created for someone who wants to build something of their own within the business. You will report directly into the Director and CEO, giving you significant visibility and influence over the direction of the office. The long-term plan is for the right person to be running the Warrington office within around two years, with light-touch support from the senior leadership team. We want to grow the office organically, with the ambition of building the headcount by at least five people. That means you'll have the opportunity to build the desk, build the team, build the office, and build the next stage of your career. We aren't looking to grow for the sake of growing. We want to build a high-performing, profitable recruitment office with the right people, the right clients and the right culture.

What You'll Need

  • Proven recruitment billing experience
  • Experience working across blue-collar and/or white-collar recruitment
  • Experience managing, mentoring or developing recruiters
  • Strong business development skills
  • Commercial awareness and a genuine desire to win
  • Confidence managing KPIs and holding people accountable
  • A hands-on approach - you'll be expected to bill
  • The ambition to build and grow a team
  • The confidence to operate autonomously while working closely with the Director and CEO

This Isn't For Everyone

We are not looking for someone who wants a comfortable management position. We are looking for someone who sees £200k existing client relationships, 17 clients already on terms and an established contract team and thinks: "Give me the opportunity and I'll build something with it." If you're a strong biller, a natural leader and someone who wants the opportunity to ultimately run an office and build a team around you, this could be the next step you've been looking for.
