Venatu Automotive are recruiting a permanent Class 2 Driver (C) on behalf of our client, with full support provided by Sally Maxwell throughout the recruitment process, through to the offer stage.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the safe collection and delivery of refrigerated trucks and cold storage containers to customer sites, depots, warehouses, and industrial locations. This is a reactive transport environment that requires flexibility, professionalism, and a strong focus on customer service and safety. You will use modern digital systems to complete all delivery and collection records, ensuring accurate tracking, POD completion, and real-time communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Vans, Class 2 (Cat C) vehicles as required
- Collect and deliver refrigerated rental equipment to customer locations
- Complete electronic PODs using company mobile devices (signatures, photos, tracking)
- Carry out vehicle checks, defect reporting, and pre-delivery/collection inspections
- Ensure all equipment is clean, roadworthy, and presented to company standards
- Secure loads in compliance with transport and health & safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with customers and transport planners regarding schedules and site access
- Adapt to changing workloads in a fast-paced, reactive environment
- Maintain full compliance with driver hours, tachograph, and WTD regulations
- Deliver excellent customer service while representing the business professionally
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday (no weekends)
- Start: 07:30
- Finish: 17:00
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
- Additional hours available (paid at standard rate)
- No nights out required
Pay & Benefits
- £14.00 per hour
- £29,120 annual salary (based on 40 hours/week)
- Overtime paid at standard rate
- 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
- Additional birthday day off (after 6 months)
- Total: 33 days annual leave
- Opportunity to increase earnings through additional hours
Requirements
- Valid Class 2 (C) licence
- In-date CPC qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Maximum 3 penalty points (no DR or IN endorsements)
- Over 21 years old (insurance requirement)
- Strong understanding of driver hours & tachograph rules
- Comfortable using smartphones/mobile apps
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Desirable Experience
- Previous Class 2 driving experience
- Experience with vehicle, trailer, or container deliveries/collections
- Familiarity with electronic POD systems or driver apps
- Knowledge of refrigerated equipment advantageous
