Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain practical experience supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs?
A Secondary SEN School in Wantage is seeking a dedicated and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists, or Teachers who want to build valuable, hands-on experience working with students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant , you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual students' needs.
Support students with emotional regulation, confidence, resilience, and positive engagement in learning.
Help students develop positive relationships, social skills, independence, and coping strategies.
Work alongside teachers and SEN staff to create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment.
We're looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who is:
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
A confident communicator with a genuine passion for SEMH and SEN.
Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology, therapy, counselling, or education.
Calm, resilient, and able to remain consistent when supporting students who may display challenging behaviour.
Able to build strong, positive relationships with both students and colleagues.
Adaptable and willing to learn new strategies to support individual students.

Setting: Secondary SEN School
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: Β£93-Β£110 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract: Full-time
