The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing main contractor in West Yorkshire for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the delivery of new build care home developments from pre-construction through to final account. The role is primarily office-based, with weekly site visits.

You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered commercially, maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking full commercial responsibility for multiple new build care home projects.
  • Preparing cost plans, budgets and forecasts.
  • Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements.
  • Managing subcontractor payments, valuations and variations.
  • Producing accurate monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Preparing and agreeing final accounts.
  • Administering projects under JCT forms of contract.
  • Liaising closely with site teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Attending project and commercial meetings.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required.
  • Ensuring projects remain commercially successful from inception through to completion.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
  • Experience delivering care home projects, general construction projects, or residential developments.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of JCT contracts.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
