Location: Truro Combined Court, Edward Street, Truro, TR1 2PB
Pay Rate: Β£12.86 per hour (Day 1 rate)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based
Clearance Required: Basic DBS- Provided by brookstreet
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Operational Support Officer on behalf of His Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) at Truro Combined Court.
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the justice system. As an Operational Support Officer, you will provide essential administrative and customer service support to court users, judicial office holders, legal professionals and partner agencies. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of court services and supporting the delivery of justice.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for service users, responding to enquiries in person, by telephone and in writing, while delivering a professional and high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare for, facilitate and process a range of court hearings.
Provide excellent customer service to court users and stakeholders.
Respond to enquiries via face-to-face interaction, telephone, email and other communication channels.
Support vulnerable users and those with additional or complex needs.
Process case files and maintain accurate records and data.
Ensure compliance with information security and data protection requirements.
Assist with court listing and scheduling activities.
Support jury administration tasks, including attendance tracking and expense processing.
Provide administrative support to judicial office holders when required.
Assist with enforcement procedures and financial administration activities.
Report building, facilities and IT issues as appropriate.
Contribute to health and safety processes and local operational requirements.
Carry out additional duties in line with business needs and grade requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Previous customer service experience.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other digital systems.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Resilient, professional and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
Ability to handle sensitive information appropriately and confidentially.
Desirable
Previous experience working within HMCTS, the public sector or a similar administrative environment.
Knowledge of HMCTS processes and procedures.
Training
Full training will be provided. Candidates should avoid booking holiday during the first few weeks of employment, although pre-booked holidays can be accommodated.
