Join a respected local authority housing service in a rewarding Housing Officer opportunity where you'll play a vital role in supporting residents and maintaining thriving neighbourhoods in Devon. This initial 3 month contract offers the chance to make a genuine difference within local communities.
As a Housing Officer, you will be:
- Managing a portfolio of properties across the Torbay area
- Handling tenancy changes, assignments, succession applications and mutual exchanges
- Investigating nuisance reports, neighbour disputes and anti-social behaviour complaints
- Working alongside residents to help sustain occupancy and prevent tenancy breakdown
- Supporting people to access welfare assistance and relevant support services
- Carrying out inspections and home visits, including introductory and follow-up appointments
- Identifying safeguarding concerns and taking appropriate action, preparing documentation for legal proceedings where required
- Assisting with empty homes, allocations activity and occupancy checks
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes using housing systems
I'd love to speak with anyone who has:
- Experience within social or community-based housing services
- Previous exposure to tenancy enforcement and resident casework
- Knowledge of landlord obligations and occupancy-related legislation
- A track record of resolving community issues and customer concerns
- Excellent communication skills with a resident-focused approach
- Level 3 CIH and a UK Valid Driving License with access to transport
