KL Talent Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Manager to oversee transport operations across multiple depot locations based in Thetford. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven transport professional who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and has a proven track record of leading teams, managing fleet performance, and ensuring legal compliance across multiple operational sites.

Working Hours

  • Basic Weekly Hours: 40 hours
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
  • Overtime may be required in line with business needs.

The Role

As Transport Manager, you will have overall responsibility for managing transport operations across multiple depots, ensuring the safe, legal, efficient and profitable operation of drivers, vehicles and transport teams. You'll work closely with senior leadership to drive operational excellence, improve service delivery and ensure compliance with all transport legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driver Management
    • Lead driver recruitment, onboarding and retention.
    • Manage inductions, training and ongoing development.
    • Conduct performance reviews and manage attendance.
    • Investigate incidents, complaints and compliance breaches.
    • Foster a positive, safety-focused culture across all depots.
  • Operations & Team Leadership
    • Lead and develop Transport Office teams across multiple locations.
    • Monitor operational KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
    • Plan resources effectively to meet customer demands.
    • Support succession planning and employee development.
  • Fleet Management
    • Maximise fleet availability while minimising downtime.
    • Oversee maintenance schedules, MOTs and compliance.
    • Manage vehicle damage, repairs and operating costs.
    • Build strong relationships with maintenance providers and suppliers.
  • Service Delivery
    • Ensure deliveries and collections are completed on time.
    • Investigate service failures and implement corrective actions.
    • Drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction across all depot locations.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence requirements.
    • Monitor Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph compliance.
    • Lead internal audits and accident investigations.
    • Support Health & Safety, DVSA and FORS compliance standards.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Transport Manager who can confidently manage multiple sites while motivating teams and maintaining exceptional operational standards.

You’ll Have

  • Previous experience managing transport operations across one or more depots.
  • A strong understanding of Operator Licence compliance, Driver Hours legislation and tachograph regulations.
  • Experience leading and developing transport teams.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using transport management systems and operational reporting tools.

Salary & Benefits

£45,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
