This is a commercially important role with responsibility for major project quotations, technical documentation and the day-to-day management of the tendering team.

Working closely with the Commercial Director, Business Development Manager and customers, you will help turn project enquiries into accurate, competitive and technically sound proposals. You will also support the wider management team and ensure the strongest opportunities receive the right level of focus.

Key responsibilities:
  • Prepare major project quotations from customer enquiries, working to the relevant specifications and schematics.
  • Produce general arrangement drawings to support quotations and project proposals.
  • Manage quotation priorities and response times, with a clear focus on quality and opportunities with a strong chance of success.
  • Liaise with customers and the Business Development Manager to interpret requirements accurately and clarify the project scope.
  • Provide updates on quotation progress, manage requotes and support customer visits when required.
  • Highlight anomalies, exclusions, risks and value-engineering opportunities within proposed solutions.
  • Prepare technical submissions and supporting documentation for tenders and quotations.
  • Maintain accurate quotation, customer-contact and feedback records using Pipedrive.
  • Provide technical guidance to tendering engineers and commercial colleagues.
  • Lead the tendering team on a day-to-day basis, including one-to-ones, appraisals, development and relevant people-management matters.
  • Contribute actively to management meetings and wider business decisions.
What we are looking for:
  • Previous experience in tendering, estimating, project quotations or a closely related technical-commercial role.
  • The ability to interpret customer briefs, specifications and schematics and translate them into clear, accurate proposals.
  • Experience producing or completing general arrangement drawings to support quotations.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the confidence to identify exclusions, potential issues and value-engineering opportunities.
  • A collaborative approach and the communication skills to work effectively with customers, sales colleagues and technical teams.
  • Experience leading, supporting or developing a team, including regular one-to-ones and appraisals.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several live quotations and changing priorities.
  • Experience using Pipedrive or another CRM system would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a key commercial function and influence how major projects are qualified, priced and presented. You will join a specialist business where technical knowledge, commercial thinking and effective team leadership are central to winning work and delivering strong customer outcomes.
