Job Description:
- Strong frontend fundamentals: semantic HTML, modern CSS and JavaScript, including responsive and accessible development.
- Commercial experience with React and TypeScript.
- Experience with a modern full-stack React framework, specifically Remix or React Router v7+.
- Practical server-side rendering experience, including loaders/actions, forms, routing, error handling and server-side session patterns.
- A clear understanding of progressive enhancement and the ability to build core journeys that do not depend entirely on client-side JavaScript.
- Experience using Material UI to build reusable, accessible components.
- Experience writing automated tests, including unit/integration tests and Playwright end-to-end tests.
- Comfortable integrating with REST APIs and working with Git-based development and code-review processes.
- Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, including semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, screen-reader testing and automated accessibility checks.
Ideal additional experience:
- React Router framework mode, including data APIs, nested routes, form actions and streaming SSR.
- Node.js and Express, particularly where the frontend includes a server or backend-for-frontend layer.
- Design-system and component-library development using custom design patterns, encompassing MUI, Storybook and Figma.
- Runtime validation and contract-first API integration, for example Zod and OpenAPI-generated types.
- Authentication, authorisation and secure session management using OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect.
- CI/CD, dependency management and frontend security practices.
- Experience working in regulated or government environments and collaborating closely with various stakeholders, including UX, API, test and platform teams.
