The Client Our client is an established specialist contractor delivering complex building services projects, with a growing presence across the data centre and mission-critical sectors.
The business has secured a strong pipeline of technically challenging work and is continuing to invest in the senior technical capability needed to support its growth.
This is not a contractor chasing volume for the sake of it. The focus is on delivering complex projects properly, building long-term client relationships and maintaining a strong reputation for technical quality.
You will be joining an experienced team where technical expertise is respected and where the right person will have genuine visibility across the wider business.
The Role The Electrical Technical Manager will take ownership of the electrical technical and design process across multiple projects, working closely with the Technical Director, pre-construction teams, project delivery teams, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
Your involvement will cover the full project lifecycle, including:
Reviewing project specifications, tender information and client requirements
Identifying technical risks, scope gaps and value-engineering opportunities
Leading and coordinating internal and external electrical designs
Reviewing consultant and subcontractor design proposals
Producing and approving calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports
Ensuring compliance with UK regulations, contractual requirements and current legislation
Supporting projects through pre-construction, detailed design, installation and commissioning
Resolving complex technical queries before they affect cost or programme
Maintaining design intent throughout project development and change
Supporting technical sign-off, handover information and O&M documentation
Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, architectural and construction teams
The role will cover systems including LV and MV distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, security, CCTV, earthing and lightning protection.
You will not necessarily be expected to sit behind a screen producing every drawing yourself. However, you must be technically credible, capable of reviewing complex information and confident enough to challenge a design when something does not look right.

What We Are Looking For You will need a strong background in electrical building services and proven experience managing technical or design responsibilities across live construction projects.
You should be comfortable working across both pre-construction and project delivery, with a good understanding of:
Electrical building services design and coordination
Design and build contracts
UK Building Regulations and statutory compliance
CDM, design risk management and safety in design
Technical specifications and construction information
Consultant and subcontractor design management
Buildability, value engineering and change control
BIM and coordinated design environments
Experience using or reviewing information produced through Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Amtech, ElectricalOM, Dialux or Relux would be useful.
Most importantly, you must be able to communicate confidently with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams while remaining prepared to challenge decisions when necessary.
