Overview:

We are looking for a Business Development Manager on behalf of our Swindon-based client. The role will focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities across target markets, working closely with senior management and technical teams to identify prospective customers, partners and commercial opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a genuine understanding of the semiconductor and chip technology ecosystem, combined with the commercial skills to identify opportunities, build relationships and drive growth. You may come from a background in ASIC design, semiconductor manufacturing, chip design, electronics, silicon technology, engineering services or semiconductor sales/business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Identify new markets, prospective customers and strategic opportunities across the semiconductor and related technology sectors.
  • Research market trends, customer requirements, industry developments and competitor activity.
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline of opportunities from identification through to commercial engagement.
  • Develop strong relationships with prospective customers, strategic partners and key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead proactive outreach and business development activity to generate and qualify new opportunities.
  • Work closely with senior management and technical teams to assess opportunities and develop commercial strategies.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant industry events and contribute to market positioning and long-term growth.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, account development, commercial strategy or a related role.
  • Knowledge or experience of ASICs, semiconductors, integrated circuits, chip design, silicon technology or chip manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the semiconductor industry, supply chain, customer base and commercial landscape.
  • Experience working with technically complex products or services, ideally within technology, engineering, electronics or semiconductor sectors.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and understand customer needs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage multiple opportunities and competing priorities.
  • Proactive, results-driven approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • High levels of integrity and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
