TSR Recruitment is delighted to be working with an established and growing organisation to appoint a Senior Business Development Executive to join its commercial team in Swansea. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Business Development professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, identifying new opportunities and taking ownership of a portfolio of accounts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing existing commercial relationships while proactively identifying and converting new business opportunities across the UK and Ireland.
The Role
Working as part of a wider commercial team, you will manage a portfolio of business accounts, develop sales opportunities and contribute directly to revenue growth and strategic business objectives. You will be responsible for:
- Managing and developing a portfolio of commercial accounts across the UK and Ireland.
- Building strong relationships with existing, previous and prospective clients.
- Conducting regular account reviews to identify opportunities for growth.
- Understanding client objectives and identifying solutions that meet their business needs.
- Converting qualified inbound leads into commercial opportunities.
- Proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Delivering outbound business development activity through telephone, email, LinkedIn and other channels.
- Developing and maintaining a strong sales pipeline.
- Managing opportunities effectively through the CRM system.
- Preparing accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports.
- Preparing quotations, proposals and supporting commercial documentation.
- Supporting tender responses, framework submissions and procurement processes where required.
- Supporting client events, webinars, conferences and other business development activity.
- Following up with prospective clients following events and marketing activity.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer and pipeline information.
- Working closely with Marketing, Customer Success and wider commercial teams.
- Monitoring market developments and identifying new commercial opportunities.
- Contributing ideas to improve sales processes and customer engagement.
- Working towards agreed sales targets, KPIs and wider business objectives.
About You
We are looking for a commercially focused Business Development professional with a proven track record of developing client relationships and generating new business. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in Business Development, Inside Sales, Account Management or a similar commercial role.
- A proven ability to develop client relationships and generate sales opportunities.
- Experience working within a target-driven commercial environment.
- Experience managing a portfolio of business accounts.
- Strong knowledge of consultative selling and account management.
- Experience using CRM systems, ideally Salesforce or a similar platform.
- Experience preparing quotations, proposals or other commercial documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong relationship-building and customer engagement abilities.
- Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- The ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong objection handling and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
- A proactive approach with strong ownership and accountability.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a wider team.
- A professional, confident and credible approach when dealing with clients.
- A degree or equivalent professional experience would be desirable.
