An established national organisation is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join its growing people team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing a varied caseload and partnering with managers to provide practical, commercial and legally compliant employee relations advice. The role offers a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, supporting a designated region of the UK while working remotely or on a hybrid basis. You'll become a trusted advisor to managers, helping them navigate employee relations matters while coaching and developing their confidence to manage situations effectively themselves. If you enjoy problem-solving, prioritising competing demands and building strong working relationships, this could be an excellent next step in your HR career.

The Role: As Employee Relations Advisor, you will support managers across a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring issues are handled consistently, professionally and in line with company policy and employment legislation. You will manage a busy and varied caseload, providing guidance and support on matters including:

  • Absence management and wellbeing cases
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Performance and conduct issues
  • Probationary reviews
  • Flexible working requests
  • Workplace investigations
  • General employee relations enquiries

Rather than taking ownership of every case from start to finish, you will act as a coach and subject matter expert, equipping managers with the knowledge, confidence and tools to manage employee relations matters effectively within their own teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, practical and commercially focused employee relations advice.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload across a designated region.
  • Support managers through both informal and formal employee relations processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies.
  • Produce and review employee relations documentation and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records and case management data.
  • Deliver coaching and guidance to managers to develop their employee relations capability.
  • Analyse trends and contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.

About You: We are keen to speak with individuals who thrive in a busy environment and are comfortable managing multiple priorities at the same time. You will ideally have:

  • Essential:
  • At least 3 years' HR Advisory or Employee Relations experience.
  • Experience managing a varied and high-volume employee relations caseload.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to provide clear, balanced and practical advice.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Confidence working independently whilst remaining a collaborative team player.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience within a shared services, advisory or centralised HR environment.
  • Exposure to supporting multi-site operations.
  • Experience using HR systems or case management platforms.
  • Ideally CIPD Level 5, or currently working towards a qualification.

Travel Requirements: This role supports a designated region within mainland UK. Occasional travel will be required to maintain visibility and relationships with key stakeholders. Typically, this will involve visiting sites within your region once per quarter, with additional travel only required for more complex or sensitive cases. Where an overnight stay is necessary, accommodation and travel expenses will be fully covered.
